The Time has Come
This is not like the usual Diet sites.
It is not all about food
It's more than that - as you will see.
The Time has Come is from a poem recited to Alice in the book,
Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll.
The poem is called The Walrus and the Carpenter and it seems to be nonsense,
but this is not quite true.
It is about naive youngsters 'trusting' the promises of others.
(Have you been 'trusting' the Diet experts?)
It is also about very serious life-changing decisions
(Could you make such a decision?)
And it just happens to be about 'food'.
(But maybe not in the way that you think!)
The phrase, The Time has Come has an ominous tone to it.
It heralds a change.
This is the verse that starts with that phrase.
The Walrus and the Carpenter
“The time has come,” the Walrus said,
‑‑“To talk of many things:
Of shoes – and ships and sealing-wax
‑‑Of cabbages – and kings –
And why the sea is boiling hot –
‑‑And whether pigs have wings.”
As explained, the poem seems to be nonsense,
It is not. It has a serious message.
And we can use it .
We can add some sense that relates to us, by rewriting it.
We must keep some humour but include that sense of danger.
The Fat-folks and the Food.
‘The time has come,’ the Doctor said,
- 'To talk of Burger kings:
Of food – and – flab - and feeling fat
Of chicken breast or wings?
And if some foods are good or not?
And when the lady sings.'
Could any of this relate to YOU?
We can come back to further rewritten verses as we progress.
There are other verses included in this blog.
And we can meet some other characters from the poem to hear their story.
The original Lewis Carroll book was illustrated by John Tennial
This is how he portrayed the Walrus and the Carpenter.
At the top of this page I said that you may begin to see that as a diet blog, this is rather unusual,
I suppose I'd better explain something about how I came to be involved with this
and it will be about food - eventually ...
And about other stuff ...
This is what happened to me ...
